The Anchor Inn, Beer
The Anchor Inn is in a lovely spot, perched on the cliff top at Beer, only 100 yards from the beach. Spend the day basking in the sun down in the cove and then enjoy your evening meal in the Anchor. Situated on the cliff top with a lovely garden where you can enjoy the view out to sea.
Naturally being this close to the sea you will find a good selection of fish and seafood dishes on the menu. The fish is really fresh, caught locally, bought straight from the local boats and prepared by the chefs in a variety of ways to tempt your tastebuds.
You will find something for everyone here!
Specialising in fresh local fish and seafood, local scallops & Beer mackerel. Or how about a sea bass, whole crab even smoked haddock sausages, along with the Specials menu of the Day. If you don’t want fish dishes then try the traditional menu serving Beer battered cod, fillet & sirloin steak, medallions of pork fillet, fresh.
The food is well presented and in generous portions as well as being extremely reasonably priced. You’ll love the way that the staff keeps an eye on you, politely checking that everything is OK and watching from a discreet distance to make sure that you have everything that you need. They are very quick to spot when you want something and supply it promptly.
The restaurant area at the Anchor Inn is completely non-smoking, which makes for pleasant surroundings for everyone. Soft lighting and candles on every table, complemented by a glorious view from the windows across Lyme Bay further enhance the atmosphere.
In addition to the fine restaurant you can enjoy a quiet pint at the bar, which serves a range of local ales as well as wines and spirits. Naturally you can also try some cider, which is probably the best know tipple in Devon.
Beer is a very attractive East Devon village and there are plenty of things to see and do here. Pecorama and the famous Beer Caves are easily accessible just up the road.
