Upcott House and The Gallery
Upcott House is in a beautiful setting with stunning views across Lyme Bay. It's a fantastic Devon holiday home where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings. Situated in the village of Beer, right on the Jurassic Coast at the point where the red desert rocks meet the much younger chalk rocks.
This unique Arts and Crafts, turreted house was built using the local stone from Beer. The original owner was an Admiral and he built the house for one of his daughters. It's now been lovingly restored to its former glory and has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms. It's the perfect location for a large family party or group of friends.
The house has wonderful, natural wood floors and is low allergenic. All the furnishings are period pieces that fit perfectly into the house. In the dining room is a huge table that will seat up to 12 people comfortably so it's ideal for a reunion, a special birthday party or anniversary get together.
It's just an amazing property. And, it's not just me who thinks that this is a wonderful property. Upcott House had rave reviews from Woman & Home magazine in June 2009, Real Homes in October 2009 and Coast magazine in November 2009
A little way down the road from Upcott House is The Gallery. This is another truly unique property.
It's a 300 year old townhouse, which has been completely renovated. You can now enjoy many of the original features of the house, such as the beams and the stonework.
In the 21st Century the house now benefits from a spacious entrance foyer down the side lane on the ground floor, three bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor, and a spacious lounge/diner with galleried ceiling, velux windows and views of the church and village on the second floor.
(The front of the house is a luxury gift and children's clothes shop in what was formerly an Art Gallery.)
Comfortably furnished, you will find everything you need, so it's like going from home to home.
Close to the coast, the South West Coastal Path and village amenities, either of these properties would make a wonderful place to spend a relaxing holiday.
Both properties strive to provide five-star comfort in an environment low in domestic pollutants, keeping the environment very much in mind. We have used eco paints and natural wax floor finishes, refurbished period pieces, eg, chandeliers and wardrobes from auctions and invested in the most comfortable solid wood beds with sprung slats and hotel-grade, Vi-Spring mattresses hand made in Devon. Upcott is regularly booked for special occasions and family celebrations and both properties are ideal for families and couples with babies.
